Matthew Chapter 1

  • Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph,* but before they lived together, she was found with child through the holy Spirit. Matthew 1:18

  • She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus,* because he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21

  • “Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel,” which means “God is with us.” Matthew 1:23

Matthew Chapter 2

  • ‘And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; since from you shall come a ruler, who is to shepherd my people Israel.’ Matthew 2:6

  • “A voice was heard in Ramah, sobbing and loud lamentation; Rachel weeping for her children, and she would not be consoled, since they were no more.”  Matthew 2:18

  • He went and dwelt in a town called Nazareth, so that what had been spoken through the prophets might be fulfilled, “He shall be called a Nazorean.” Matthew 2:23

Matthew Chapter 3

  • saying, “Repent,* for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” Matthew 3:2

  • It was of him that the prophet Isaiahc had spoken when he said: “A voice of one crying out in the desert, ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.’ Matthew 3:3

  • And a voice came from the heavens, saying, “This is my beloved Son,* with whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17

Matthew Chapter 4

  • Jesus answered him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test.’” Matthew 4:7

  • From that time on, Jesus began to preach and say,k “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 4:17

Matthew Chapter 5

  • Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven Matthew 5:11

  • Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:11

  • Blessed is the meek, for they will inherit the land. Matthew 5:11

  • Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Matthew 5:11

  • Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Matthew 5:11

  • Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. Matthew 5:11

  • Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Matthew 5:11

  • Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:11

  • Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you [falsely] because of me Matthew 5:10-11

Matthew Chapter 6

  • But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust. Mathew 5:44-45

  • But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing, so that your almsgiving may be secret. And your father who sees in secret will repay you. Mathew 6:3-4

  • “Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing Mathew 6:25

Matthew Chapter 7

  • Stop judging, *  that you may not be judged. For as you judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you. Mathew 7:1-2

  • Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Mathew 7:7-8

  • “Do to others whatever you would have them do to you.i This is the law and the prophets. Mathew 7:12

  • This is how you are to pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and do not subject us to the final test, but deliver us from the evil one. Mathew 7:9-15

Matthew Chapter 8

  • Leper approached him and said: “Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean” Mathew 8: 2

  • The centurion replied, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed”. Mathew 8:8

  • “Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the son of Man has nowhere to rest his head” Mathew 8:20

  • The men were amazed and said, 'what sort of man is this, whom even the winds and the sea obey?’ Mathew 8: 27

Matthew Chapter 9

  • But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”- he then said to the paralytic, “Rise, pick up your stretcher, and go home.” Mathew 9: 6

  • Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. Mathew 9: 12

  • I desire mercy, not sacrifice. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners Mathew 9: 13

  • No one patches an old cloak with a piece of unshrunken cloth, for its fullness pulls away from the cloak and the tear gets worse. Mathew 9: 16

  • “My daughter has just died. But come, lay your hand on her, and she will live” Mathew 9: 18

  • “If only I can touch his cloak, I shall be cured” Mathew 9:21

  • Courage, daughter! Your faith has saved you,” And from that hour the women was cured. Mathew 9: 22

  • The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest” Mathew 9: 37

Matthew Chapter 10

  • Amen, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town Matthew 10:15

  • When they hand you over, do not worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say. You will be given at that moment what you are to say Matthew 10:19

  • You will be hated by all because of my name, but whoever endures to the end* will be saved. Matthew 10:22

  • Do not think that I have come to bring peace upon the earth. I have come to bring not peace but the sword. Matthew 10:34

  • Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. Matthew 10:39

Matthew Chapter 11

  • From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffers violence,* and the violent are taking it by force  Matthew 11:12

  • Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,* and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Matthew Chapter 12

  • For the Son of Man is Lord of the sabbath.” Matthew 12:8

  • How much more valuable a person is than a sheep. So it is lawful to do good on the sabbath.” Matthew 12:12

  • Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. Matthew 12:30

  • You brood of vipers, how can you say good things when you are evil? For from the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks. Matthew 12:34

  • He said to them in reply, “An evil and unfaithful* generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah the prophet. Matthew 12:39

  • For whoever does the will of my heavenly Father is my brother, and sister, and mother.” Matthew 12:50

Matthew Chapter 13

  •  To anyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; from anyone who has not, even what he has will be taken away. Matthew 13:12

  • But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear. Matthew 13:16

  • Thus it will be at the end of the age. The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth. Matthew 13: 49-50


Matthew Chapter 14

  • At once [Jesus] spoke to them, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” Matthew 14:27

  • Those who were in the boat did him homage, saying, “Truly, you are the Son of God” Matthew 14:33

Matthew Chapter 15

  • It is not what enters one’s mouth that defiles that person; but what comes out of the mouth is what defiles one. Matthew 15 :11

Matthew Chapter 16

  • An evil and unfaithful generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah. Matthew 16:4

  • And so, I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church,  and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.  I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven.  Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Matthew 16:18-19

  • Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself,  take up his cross, and follow me.  For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. Matthew 16:24-25

  • For the Son of Man will come with his angels in his Father’s glory, and then he will repay everyone according to his conduct. Matthew 16:27

Matthew Chapter 17

  • This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him. Matthew 17:5

  • Amen, I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. Matthew 17:20

Matthew Chapter 18

  • Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me. Mathew 18:4-5

  • Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. Matthew 18:6

  • See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father. Mathew 18:10-11

  • In just the same way, it is not the will of your heavenly Father that one of these little ones be lost. Matthew 18:14

  • If he refuses to listen to them, tell the church. If he refuses to listen even to the church, then treat him as you would a Gentile or a tax collector. Mathew 18:17

  • Amen, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be lost in heaven. Matthew 18:18

  • Should you not have had pity on your fellow servant, as I had pity on you? Matthew 18:33


Matthew Chapter 19

  • Some are incapable of marriage because they were born so; some, because they were made so by others; some, because they have renounced marriage for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Whoever can accept this ought to accept it. Mathew 19:12

  • Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to [the] poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me. Mathew 19:21

  • Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you that you who have followed me, in the new age, when the Son of Man is seated on his throne of glory, will yourselves sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. Mathew 19:28

  • And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times more, and will inherit eternal life. Mathew 19:29

  • But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first. Mathew 19:30

Matthew Chapter 20

  • Thus, the last will be first, and the first will be last. Mathew 20:16

  • Whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave. 28 Just so, the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. Mathew 20: 27-28

Matthew Chapter 21

  • And he said to them, “It is written: ‘My house shall be a house of prayer, but you are making it a den of thieves.” Matthew 21:13

  • Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive.” Matthew 21:22

Matthew Chapter 22

  • He said to him, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. Matthew 22:37

Matthew Chapter 23

  • Whoever exalts himself will be humbled; but whoever humbles himself will be exalted. Matthew 23:12

Matthew Chapter 24

  • Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be famines and earthquakes from place to place. Matthew 24:7

  • “When you see the desolating abomination* spoken of through Daniel the prophet standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then those in Judea must flee to the mountains, a person on the housetop must not go down to get things out of his house, a person in the field must not return to get his cloak. Matthew 24:15-18

  • Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. Matthew 24:35

  • But of that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son,* but the Father alone. Matthew 24:36

  • So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come. Matthew 24:44

Matthew Chapter 25

  • Therefore, stay awake,* for you know neither the day nor the hour. Matthew 25:13

  • For to everyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. Matthew 25:29

  • And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” Matthew 25:46

Matthew Chapter 26

  • The poor you will always have with you; but you will not always have me. Matthew 26:11

  •  While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said, “Take and eat; this is my body. Then he took a cup, gave thanks,* and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you, I for this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins. Matthew 26:26-28

  • Withdrawing a second time, he prayed again, “My Father, if it is not possible that this cup pass without my drinking it, your will be done!” Matthew 26:42

  • From now on you will see ‘the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Power’ and ‘coming on the clouds of heaven.’” Matthew 26:64

Matthew Chapter 27

  • But He said nothing in response to the accusations of the chief priests and elders Matthew 27:12

  • At about three o’ clock Jesus cried out with a loud shout, “Eli, Eli, lema  sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why did you abandon me?” Matthew 27:46

Matthew Chapter 28

  • He is not here; He has been raised , just as He said. Come and see the place where He was lying Matthew 28:6

  • Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, until the end of the age Matthew 28: 19- 20
